Black and white stripes, suited-sailor theme, and the lovely Venetian setting, that would be the whole definition of what Karl Lagerfeld did to the resort collection of Chanel. With inspiration coming from Tatjana Patitz's son, Tadzio in the novel "Death in Venice", the cardigans, shorts and the well tailored suits defined a modern sailor paddling through the water ways of Venice. Synonymous to a love story, two lovers wouldn't get a happy ending without an antagonist, just like Lagerfeld's use of the infamous color tandem of black and white, the red seems to be contrasting yet stunning that made me think of what red had symbolize in the 1971 film.
