Prior to the campaign images that they have given us a short while back, Ben Sherman presents a more complete look of their Autumn/Winter 2011 collection. Inspired greatly by the well travelled Englishman in New York that’s very much the imaginary star to this collection, The Plectrum line is well packed with sophisticated outdoor clothing that includes tartan buttoned-down shirts, wool coats and a good selection of colorful flat front trousers.

Ben Sherman Autumn/Winter 2011 "Englishman in New York" Campaign

Ben Sherman has recently worked with Dazed & Confused to come up with an interesting Autumn/Winter 2011 campaign. Their agenda was to scout for a few assortments of successful Englishmen who have made NYC their new playground. The deserving gentlemen where given the freedom to pick pieces from the new collection and then had it shot in their own neighborhoods. The stars of this campaign will be featured on a six-page spread at September 2011 issue of Dazed & Confused. Watch out for it.

Ben Sherman Modern Classics Spring/Summer 2011 Lookbook

Here’s the official lookbook of Ben Sherman’s Modern Classics line featuring the latest collection for the next seasons. For Spring/Summer 2011, Ben Sherman Modern Classics has created a collection that draws inspiration from Aviation and the clothing worn by early World War II crewmen. Taking traditional styles and reworking them with contemporary detailing in modern fabrications. These garments have been designed to function and are crafted from premium fabrics that include British Millerain, fine Japanese Selvedge twills, chambrays and Oxford cotton. The range retains some of the brand’s signature detailing through button-downs on collars, traditional tailoring details and tabbed pockets. Classic design resonates through the use of signature branding and packaging which has been given as much care and attention as the product itself.

Ben Sherman Modern Classics Autumn/Winter 2010

Weeks from now, Ben Sherman’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection may formally be publicized, and many of us are anticipated about it, but before the press starts to send out stories, let’s have a trip back to the current collection first. Ben Sherman Modern Classics label has produced this interesting visual diary that features the Autumn/Winter 2010 collection along with the beautiful sceneries of the Scottish highlands. Reflecting the “Ben Sherman” simplicity with the timeless British wardrobe staples, the beautiful classic pieces that were brought forth this season truly gave justice to the nearly 50 year legacy.

A couple of weeks back Ben Sherman Modern Classics hit the road – the destination the remote village of Kilchoan, on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, the most westerly point on British mainland. Nearly 600 miles from London, and 55 miles from the nearest town – on highland roads, that’s a two and a half hour drive! The next ten days were spent hiking the highlands and mountains, checking out the wildlife, beaches and the local islands, as well as their whisky distilleries and some amazing shellfish, including a diving expedition to catch our own lunch. A six hour drive was to follow, to the north coast in search of some waves, for some more hiking along the spectacularly rugged coastline, and to check out some very remote pubs. It was a beautiful getaway to some of Britain’s most untouched corners. AW10 Modern Classics accompanied us along the way, and needless to say, it stood up well to the physical demands the rugged environment asked of it.

Ben Sherman Gets Nicked at New York

Fashionable New York sightseers were videotaped as they pass by Ben Sherman SoHo store with a drooling window display of shirts. What's more interesting is that few of them were caught tiptoeing, some passed by swiftly, while one sartorially dressed lad reacted nothing while grabbing shirts on the window display. Resulting then to a chaotic flock of law abiding citizens competitively taking shirts from the 600+ offered, this fashion week shenanigan is part of Ben Sherman's preview of their Spring 2011 collection. The stolen shirts were actually stamped earlier stating ‘Nicked! From Ben Sherman Soho New York, NY Fashion Week September 2010, But You Are Forgiven, Just This Once’.

Ben Sherman Autumn/Winter 2010 Lookbook

Ben Sherman pulls out an Autumn/Winter 2010 collection inspired by 60s Beatniks and a cold British Winter. Sticking to a preppy casual aesthetic this season, the wardrobe must haves are seen on this lookbook shot by duos Chad Pickard and Paul McLean, and styled by John Colver.

Garment dyed Macs nod to the authentic detailing running throughout the collection, while tailored trousers are given a laundered lived-in look. Re-enforcing the inspiration of Beatnik creativity, traditional fabrics are purposefully and intelligently misplaced, as outerwear canvases are used in trousers and workwear fabrics make the basis of shirt jackets. Chambrays, denim, twills and flannel are key fabrics in shirting and vintage inspired checks are off set with laundered stripes featuring western or military detailing. Chunky fisherman styles, cables and double-breasted waffle knits make up the knitwear offering.

Ben Sherman Savile Row "Prep Style" Blazer

I love the limitedness or should I say exclusivity of this prep style blazer from Ben Sherman that is made for the Savile Row store this autumn/winter 2010.

"The inspiration came from the old school, back-to-college prep look. The traditional blazoring fabrication is wool blended with cotton, in a bold stripe in classic preppy colours. It is cut on the short Camden block, with three-button fastening and blazer buttons, 5-button functioning cuff, patch pocket on the chest and jetted front pockets."
