Won-Hundred-James-Pfaff
Won Hundred turns from their usual lookbook presentation to a more artistically inclined approach as they commission British photographer James Pfaff for a curated series of imagery for Fall/Winter 2011 campaign. The photographer was given an opportunity to express his craft liberally and resulted to an inimitable understanding through the Danish brand’s inspiration – “Living a clean life under difficult circumstances”. Set up to an exhibition that recently happened right at Outside World Gallery, the shared aesthetics and the strategic location has properly amalgamated with the arts and commerce vibe.

Weeks from now, Ben Sherman’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection may formally be publicized, and many of us are anticipated about it, but before the press starts to send out stories, let’s have a trip back to the current collection first. Ben Sherman Modern Classics label has produced this interesting visual diary that features the Autumn/Winter 2010 collection along with the beautiful sceneries of the Scottish highlands. Reflecting the “Ben Sherman” simplicity with the timeless British wardrobe staples, the beautiful classic pieces that were brought forth this season truly gave justice to the nearly 50 year legacy.

A couple of weeks back Ben Sherman Modern Classics hit the road – the destination the remote village of Kilchoan, on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, the most westerly point on British mainland. Nearly 600 miles from London, and 55 miles from the nearest town – on highland roads, that’s a two and a half hour drive! The next ten days were spent hiking the highlands and mountains, checking out the wildlife, beaches and the local islands, as well as their whisky distilleries and some amazing shellfish, including a diving expedition to catch our own lunch. A six hour drive was to follow, to the north coast in search of some waves, for some more hiking along the spectacularly rugged coastline, and to check out some very remote pubs. It was a beautiful getaway to some of Britain’s most untouched corners. AW10 Modern Classics accompanied us along the way, and needless to say, it stood up well to the physical demands the rugged environment asked of it.

Featuring its first advertising campaign, ASOS collaborated with notable portrait, interiors, and fashion photographer and illustrator, Todd Selby, to make it possible this season. Taking inspiration from Todd’s own project, The Selby, the campaign features individuals photographed in their own personal spaces as the campaign is dubbed as ‘Model’s Own’.

To give you an insight about 10.55 mm, it is a limited edition project from 55DSL that involves a collaboration with different international photographers to creatively customize a shirt with the photograph of their choice. The shirts are being produced worldwide and it is available with a limited run of 1055 pieces. To take part of the latest installment, iconic British photographer Gavin Watson works with the team in production of a black and white print over the tee. As expected, there would be only one style and that would be the picture shown above.

Gavin Watson was born in 1965 in Kingsbury, London. From an early age he developed an interest in documenting his surroundings through photography. At the age of 14, Gavin immersed himself in the skinhead subculture spearheaded by Madness and two tone. Leaning on his keen enthusiasm for photography Gavin set about comprehensively documenting the antics of his friends and, most pertinently, his brother Neville. Gavin was unaware at this time that his work would soon grow to be concerned the seminal insight to a rich and unique subculture in modern British history.

In stores this November.

The project culminates next week with a gallery showing at Above Second in Hong Kong starting Thursday, May 20th. Booooooom founder and artist in his own right Jeff Hamada will also be attending the exhibition opening.
