T-post & Monster Engine T-shirt

July 21, 2011 |

Here's an interesting story.

T-post the world's first wearable magazine hires 4-year old artist and his comic book illustrator dad for Gulf oil spill interpretation.

Aiden DeVries is the 4-year old son of Dave DeVries, an award-winning illustrator and creator of the book, The Monster Engine. If you've ever wondered what a child's drawing would look like if painted by a professional illustrator, you're about to find out. For more information on The Monster Engine, please visit http://www.themonsterengine.com

T-post works a lot like a magazine subscription. Every five weeks, subscribers from over 50 countries receive a new issue/t-shirt in the mail. The offbeat news story is printed on the inside back of the shirt. And a graphic artist's interpretation of that news story is printed on the front. For subscribers, the comment "Nice shirt" now becomes an invitation to tell the story behind the design and create dialogue about an interesting world event.

One-of-a-Tee
Uniqueness sets us apart from other people around. It dictates our authenticity and graces us as a person depending on how well we handle it. For fashion/clothing, some wouldn’t wear clothes that are of the same style with others. Mostly, these people would get a piece of clothing from far places just to assure themselves that they wouldn’t end up seeing the same clothing to others.

One shirting label that’s opting to promote uniqueness over their designs is Sweden’s ONE of a TEE. Their online database assures you that the shirt you get from them is the only piece in the place you live in. Remember, uniqueness is their concern and it all depends on how you handle their tees.

ONE of a TEE updates their collection with five new tees every six weeks. The styles of the shirts are different but all of which comes from the same design theme. Check their “5 Sneaker Lacing” collection below.

Casual outfits are most likely being represented by wardrobe staples every man should be wearing. Ideally, it should be a shirt and pants. For Outlier, they are bringing in a futuristic take on it. Not on the designs but what’s it made of actually. The slim Dungarees, a lean version of their Keirin Cut Dungarees, are made of workcloth doubleweave canvas that features a rugged canvas exterior and soft brushed interior, making them as comfortable as they are durable. It may looked like a posh tailored pants but its unique take on shrugging off light rain and other liquids plus the breathable aspect makes it the new “it” pants for men. The Northeast Pivot Sleeve Shirt on the other hand is not your usual button-down oxford shirt. This shirt has Outlier’s patent pending pivot sleeve shirt construction and is made from a beautiful oxford cloth that’s sourced from Spain. Definitely, men should be rocking either both or one of these aforementioned goodies.

The Slim Dungarees are available in Black and Indigo Blue for $188.
The Northeast Pivot Sleeve Shirt is available in Blue, Gray and Lavender for $128.

Adam-Kimmel-Bandana-Roll-Up-Sleeves
Adam Kimmel is known for taking inspiration from artists, cowboys and more recently hip hop icon Snoop Dogg, someone he has grown up listening to. For SS11 and deeply inspired by Snoop’s original personal style and the bandana prints he uses throughout his clothing, Adam Kimmel created a custom bandana print design that shows up on the roll up sleeves of t-shirts and shirts. After researching several bandana designs, he came up with his own cashmere cotton blend ones and incorporated it into the sleeves reverse, very West Coast Doggystyle. Now available at Por Vocacao.
