René-Gurskov-Spring-2012-Collection
Talk about being spirited and having a strong personality, this interesting collection by René Gurskov seems to have absorbed tons of youthfulness and contemporary romanticism to justify the new men’s clothing – the hybrid clothing. With the inspiration taken from BBC’s endless costume dramas where it talked about love, class, money, and sex, Gurskov have gone to being relax this season as pastel colours in doodle patterns, fringes and lace have blended well with what school uniforms and twisted sportswear should be in this modern time.

Rene-Gurskov-Fall-2011
Danish designer Rene Gurskov presents his Autumn/Winter 2011 collection that is entitled “Go Wild in the Country”. Coming with a parallel inspiration that we’ve seen at the Milan and Paris men’s shows, the traditional western Amish handicraft greatly affected the collection alongside the contrasting urban trashy style and translated influence from women’s to men’s. This line presents a great execution of detailing and intricateness while the expected fuse on prints and unusual turns on several pieces are pretty much noticeable.

Skip the plain old cardigans for a while and let’s go further to much more interesting approaches. Take for example this star studded cardigan. There’s quite a bit of sporty sensation to it though it’s from René Gurskov, and that’s no opposition to the name but quite unusual. The crème and black combo gives a high-fashion punch and yeah, it’s sophisticated, modern and fancier. The two white stripes on both sleeves and the round neckline when zipped works for me. Try pairing this with a v-neck shirt, preferably in dark colors, not cream or flashy okay? Now available at Boys Boys Boys.

This beautiful "Admiral" sweater from René Gurskov features an interesting take on the frontal design along with unique black fringes on the arms. Spotted on Boys Boys Boys online shop, I thought about posting this item to properly represent all Gurskov pieces from the site. Check it out here.

Inspired by Henry Millers' 1956 novel "Quiet days in Clichy", René Gurskov have tapped in model Mathias to a wonderful journey in Place de Clichy as an American writer/student going in Paris for the first time. An energetic take of stars and numerous prints that brought a new rendition of Americana, there's the overwhelming buoyancy over the old world decadence of the city that collides the new era of adventure.

"In the collection there are a mix of both worlds + glimpses of most worlds.
A piece of stars and stripes remixed by Venezuelan art director Char Alfonzo in New York
Meshweaters with an African stripe designed in Denmark.
To complete the look, paper glasses from Hong Kong designer Ron Wan for Rene Gurskov– now based in Toronto.
Items are skirt like pants; linen jackets tied together, asymmetric tees, bowling shirts, boxershorts and the biggest trackpants."

Highlights: Stars and stripes jacket and trousers, African stripe mesh sweaters, and paper glasses.

Growing up with an environment that is related to the basics of fashion, it is not a surprise that René Gurskov would bring and pull out exceptional artistic capacities. Enhancing what has been on him ever since, the Danish designer entered fashion school in Copenhagen for 3 years and had his internship in Paris for 1 year. More of his ventures, Gurskov bought In Circus and then soon closed the shop to transform it into a wholesale company to produce his very own fashion label. Now, he's all over the place and his designs are well publicize, mostly with no bias opinions.

How did you get into fashion?
Rene: Hmm - it seems I was always there. My mother was a home seamstress when I was little so I picked the fabrics and made some stuff for our dolls. Later on i began with paper dolls.

Were you thinking of womenswear by that time? Or just simply generalizing the concept of designing and fashion?
No it was women's - and I am trained in women's. I only began with men's since I never found anything for myself to wear. The last 2 years we have only done menswear.

Two years isn't that long. Do you think you're well equipped with menswear knowledge?
I have been doing mens[wear] in 8 years along with women's and for the last 2 years we do only mens[wear]. But I try to improve all the time.

I see. Well I am big fan of your seasonal collections. How do you conceptualize?
We spend a lot of time making up a story about the guy for the season. The Parade Boy or the Nephew of Miss Marple and so on. I work this out with our graphic guy (the one on our blog).

Do you have a group/team in helping you doing a collection?
Yes I have an assistant and some interns.

Tell me. What's a normal day for René Gurskov?
Well we start a little late. At 10. But first we do the orders we have for the webshop and the pop up store. Then on to production and developing new models. Then dinner and in the evening I make some drawings.

But I noticed that you're active in Facebook all time.
Not it is just on - in the office. I am not a chatter

Oh, that explains.
But anyway, are you open for the possibility of diversifying your campaigns? Like hiring an Asian model?
Yes but there are none in Scandinavia.

For your upcoming collection [Spring/Sumer 2011], what's it gonna be like?
I found a picture of Andy Warhol when he was young- before he became Andy. We relocated [him] to Paris, in Place de Clichy.

On the other note, have you been limiting your designs to avoid recession? Or just keep moving on with whatever pop outs to your mind?
No that has not been our strategy. In fact we have been growing for the last 2 years - so we did not experience any recession.

How far do you think Rene Gurskov would go? Are you open to the possibility of expanding?
Yes we want to take America too.

As a designer, who do you think is your toughest competition?
They tell me it is Jeremy Scott - but I don't know.

Any collaborative news from you?
We did a scarf collection for the MAISON BO-M in Riyadh opening these days.

Finally, what's your personal style?
Now it's balloon pants and all the tees from boysboysboys.de in hamburg and my YSL sneaks - light blue.

Fashionable! Thanks René
You are welcome.

Rene Gurskov Fall 2010 Collection

February 1, 2010 |

Military in new aura. How can we put in jolly vibe in serious military style? Leave it to Rene Gurskov. Pyjama-like loose trousers are quite interesting for military match up along with two tone small polka dotted pants. Working mostly on combinations and reinventions, Rene Gurskov pulled off great pieces like sailor sweat shirt, military jacket paired with starry scarf and all leather jackets.

Rene Gurskov Spring/Summer 2010

October 13, 2009 |

If last season was inspired by Outdoor English style, well it didn't go far around the globe for Rene Gurskov to define his On Holiday collection as the Danish designer delectably lavished on the interesting patterns bestowing exoticism and some essence of weekend holiday.

"The on holiday-collection – fashion for the travelling guy.
A guy who likes both the notorious island Amager and the laid-back faded glam of the French Riviera .
He dresses like a mix of prince Naseem and Donatella Versace.
Active wear mixed with latino decadence.
The football fields of Amager requires a certain degree of practical clothing - and at la Croisette he just needs to look good.
The collection offers a various range of prints – palmtree and an animal fantasi and of course the latino classic leopard print.
The colours are rainy blue/black and the golden colours of wildlife animals – added up with all the bling an European prince can require."

Rene Gurskov Fall/Winter 2009/10 Collection

June 3, 2009 |

With his inspiration, "outdoor look of the English country", Rene Gurskov goes to a different direction when it comes in fitting for his fall/winter 2009/10 collection. Seeing some baggy pants and oversized jackets, his vision for that outdoor look gives a new air to the "slim fit" competition of todays fashion. With a goal to dress people in different ages, it could be possible for him to pursue his purpose of action since his works are showing versatility. Rene Gurskov is produced by InCircus.

"NOT JUST A LABEL gives birth to a new kind of shopping experience offering unique, one-off designer garments. Addicts and admirers alike now have the opportunity to purchase special and limited edition pieces from designers recognised as the leaders in avant-garde fashion." NJAL

Here are some of the best items found at NJAL that definitely stood out. The silver tux-jacket came from a collection where condractions were brought together, thanks to Renegurskov, it really pulled off. The handpainted jerseyshirt on the other hand, surely can cater to different types of people. Showing versatility and complexity, the paint detail definitely popped out.

"This collection is for the guys who was caught in the crossfire between parents of 69 and the punk rebellion The big question is, can you be a nice guy and still look sharp and tough!"

"The collection is named "Blueprint" and plays with the many transforms, operations and permutations apparent and implied in a single blueprint. Think about it. What do you see in a blueprint? Inversions and enlargements, gradations and duplicates."
