"Dazed Digital exclusively premieres an inspiring collaboration between Lady Gaga and fashion filmmaker Kathryn Ferguson, displaying a very different side to this year's most exhilarating pop phenomenon. Shot during rehearsals for her London shows, this intimate short film showcases Gaga's love of some of fashion's most pioneering names, as well as a show-stopping piano composition created by Gaga uniquely for this collaboration."

Shaun Samson, the Californian designer who collaborated with Jeremy Scott, is taking his career to a new heights. Recently graduated from Central St. Martins with a BA in Menswear and four years from fashion schools in LA, Shaun Samson's appreciation to fashion definitely added fun and exuberance which instantly recognize him apart from graduating from the prestigious fashion school. Taking notice on his collection, I thought it was a cool idea to create a men's pleated shirt which eventually boosted my curiosity towards his capabilities in creating new ideas. Supporting his inspiration of "Dracula meets Olsen Twins" for this monochromatic offerings, I thought the idea was quite a bit shallow compared to his excellent executions but for sure he can formulate stronger approaches when it comes to that on his future collections.

Aside from being the Creative Director at Dior, John Galliano has something to brag about and it's not related to being criticized resulting good publicity but he's got his own range of sunglasses! Produced by Marcolin, Galliano's newest offerings caters to both gender, with different design of course.

"Sunglasses are the ultimate accessory as well as the ultimate alibi. They are the status symbol that conceals the private gaze, and exposes only the glossy image you want to project. I wanted to create new glamour, and new shades, for my muses to play their part in... I wanted to blend old school glamour with high-tech romance so we looked at innovations in plastics and pushed new lens techniques to tell our story. I wanted a Galliano decadence and depth of character in the personality of each of these glasses." Galliano stated.

As for his inspiration on the designs of the sunglasses, he the took inspiration from the Spanish heritage and the Flamenco for women's "Les Biches" and his favorite rebels & heroes for men's "Beau Regard" which reminds me of Ray-Ban's Clubmaster. The sunglasses will hit John Galliano boutique in Paris and selected shops worldwide starting this month.

If you happen to think of modern chain mail, then you probably passed by Asguer Juel Larsen. As for other designers thinking of modernity on their collection, Asguer's concept may not be too far from them but the medieval influence with the use alternative materials such as leather, PVC and rubber surely is being genius. Photographed by Ellis Scott, an array of of modern chain mails are being featured for his lookbook. Click here for Dazed Digital's interview with the designer.

Umit Benan's Cuba Collection

July 5, 2009 |

Umit Benan's Spring/Summer 2010 collection was inspired by Cuban luxury lifestyle. With the use of traditional colors and fabrics all coming from the Caribbean nation, the big volume and exaggerated silhouettes were the highlight of his collection with the addition of linen, jerseys and rough fabrics . "Though the collection features also a few overalls, they are not inspired by workwear, but they represent the wealthy lifestyle of my characters. As a whole I would define the collection purposely tacky yet modern." explained by Umit Benan on an interview with Dazed Digital. "Many men are afraid of wearing garments with feminine details and in my collection they represent the antitheses to my more masculine designs."

Wood Wood Double Denim

June 6, 2009 |

Copenhagen designers Wood Wood debuts modern denim range, Double Denim, to be released this autumn. Keeping clean and minimal, they focused on silhouette and fine details. With thicker denim cut for men in Japanese selvedge woven in Okayama, Japan, the contemporary blend sums up the whole motif.

Here's a preview of three designers focusing on menswear from the Central Saint Martins Final Year BA show 2009. With five designers across menswear, womenswear and printing, Digital Dazed will bring you backstage photographs and interviews from the press show.

Holly Fox-Lee
"Wearing a mask on the body, was the core challenge of my collection. I was inspired by krump dancing and the Ndebele tribe amongst others; to create a synthesis of modernity and ancient craft work. Exaggerated sportswear silhouettes and vibrant colour ways represent the fusion of the African and the American."

Morten Ivar
"My collection is inspired by early punk rock with the main focus throughout my research being the many different styles that go with the punk rock image; from tailored jackets to leather pants and sneakers. I have, with my mix of prints, colours and styles tried to capture the spontaneous effect."

Anthony Thomas
"Four songs that communicate a common mood of mystery have provided the spark of inspiration for this collection: Porno for Pyros’s ’Tahitian Moon’, Ice-T’s ‘Midnight’, Health’s ‘Lost Time’ and an Acid Girls remix of Health’s ‘Triceratops’. I have translated the mood into the general theme of ‘Midnight’. My ‘Midnight’ sees awe-inspiring landscapes, glimpses of existential clarity, separate realities and the deep stirrings of the subconscious veering in and out of something all together tangible, dark, angry and violent- of real social context. In particular gang warfare in South Central LA during the early nineties. The esoteric and the real."
