The Vintage Frames Shop releases the limited edition Ultra Goliath 2 sunglasses as part of the Dr. Shapiro Collection. Here’s quite a bit of history to the Ultra Goliath 2 sunglasses:

In 1977 Stan Besner of Ultra Palm found the original mould for the Goliath 2 in Holland. The first colour they produced was a dirty blond, which years later developed into a black and brown model. The Success of the frame continued as many artists and celebs adopted the iconic Goliath as their signature frame. Police 2011 Blue Lens Aviator Sunglasses

October 15, 2010 |

In the late 1980s-early 1990s, Police introduced the “must have” blue-mirrored lenses that are part of the collection they did for De Rigo Vision. For about a decade, the successful blue lenses were recognized as part of the Police heritage and eyewear collections through its new and revolutionary look that eventually symbolized freedom and life ‘on the road’.

For 2011 collection, Police returns to the blue-mirrored lens heyday through reintroduction for the modern day audiences. Featuring frames in acetate metal, the new collection sees the arrival of aviator (above) and square shaped frames made unique by the famous mirrored blue lenses.

Available on January 2011 via www.police.it.

September 28, 2010 |

Fun and fresh. Those are two words that would appropriately describe this new take of the infamous 80s Frogskins in limited edition. Available in cool blend of colors, Oakley have sprightly joined fire and flora fade, and violet and clear fade both with iridium lenses that gives the wearer that "dope-boy-fresh" feel. Get it at Oki-Ni.

For exaggeration, it's been ages since I featured aviators on this blog. Quite digging with wayfarer-ish style, it wasn't really good to actually forget about my first loved shades. Okay, enough with drama, Burberry is up with innovated design of aviators, and I really loved it. With the new collection hitting up the market, the reference is actually from the iconic details of Burberry archives, coinciding properly with the ready-to-wear collections.

New styles for men include acetate rectangular sunglasses with a graphic trademark Burberry check printed on the temple and a new rounded aviator style in light acetate. The colours for the men’s eyewear includes neutral tones of trench, tortoise, grey and black, mirroring the sombre colour palette of the men’s ready-to-wear collections. All styles have metal Burberry logo branding on the temples.

We love wearing shades during spring, summer or simply days when sun shine at its best. And we also love our confidence when we get to cover our eyes and simply look sharp and striking while walking in front of insecure pests. Just to get myself satisfied with what I'm looking right now and not having any physical contact, I'll just express my thoughts about it... these shades are to die for! Taking inspiration from the classic wayfarers, these Robert Geller "David" sunglasses are in no further range of being versatile and sophisticated. All made in Japan, the shades are available for preorder in limited stocks. Get it here.

Aside from the original black framed Ray Ban wayfarers which kind of ruled the standards of modern simplicity, there's a new one erupting from Denmark. Name: Han Kjobenhavn. From the Spring/Summer 2010 Collection, this Paul Senior model is my top pick among the other offerings. With two variations: tortoise and black, the style is actually simple and really attracting. Not to mention timeless design. See the collection at The Garbstore.

Oakley Koston Frogskins

October 31, 2009 |

Legendary skater Eric Koston has given Oakley some product influence in producing limited edition Frogskins. Coming in black wood grain with dark grey lenses, the frame has the texture "like wood to touch". The glasses comes with a pouch with the same wood grain print and an Eric Koston logo.

This item is due to be released on November 6th 2009 at Oki-Ni.

Aside from being the Creative Director at Dior, John Galliano has something to brag about and it's not related to being criticized resulting good publicity but he's got his own range of sunglasses! Produced by Marcolin, Galliano's newest offerings caters to both gender, with different design of course.

"Sunglasses are the ultimate accessory as well as the ultimate alibi. They are the status symbol that conceals the private gaze, and exposes only the glossy image you want to project. I wanted to create new glamour, and new shades, for my muses to play their part in... I wanted to blend old school glamour with high-tech romance so we looked at innovations in plastics and pushed new lens techniques to tell our story. I wanted a Galliano decadence and depth of character in the personality of each of these glasses." Galliano stated.

As for his inspiration on the designs of the sunglasses, he the took inspiration from the Spanish heritage and the Flamenco for women's "Les Biches" and his favorite rebels & heroes for men's "Beau Regard" which reminds me of Ray-Ban's Clubmaster. The sunglasses will hit John Galliano boutique in Paris and selected shops worldwide starting this month.

Oakley brings in their iconic Frogskin sunglasses in a very limited Collector's Edition. With interesting colors to choose from, i thought that the vibrant turquoise and "polished root beer" colors are some of the cool shades i have seen from the set. Using Plutonite lenses, patented lens material that blocks 100% of all UVA, UVB, UVC and harmful blue light, it goes to show that these sunglasses are the real deal! Get those Frogskins at Oki-Ni.

Taken from the classic styles, these sunglasses from Henrik Vibskov takes us to a different direction coming in a smarter approach compared to the atypical details of his collection where the core of everything is to be unique. With marble-like details on temples and even frames, the transparent face complements to the whole design of the sunglasses. Now available at Aloha Rag.

Dean Cheuk's Gold Fingers

August 15, 2009 |

As cool as it can be, these sunglasses from Colab is a combination of function and innovation. Designed by Dean Cheuk, a New York-based art director, illustrator and artist from Australia, these sunglasses comes with gold metal highlight “hand” temples holding the frames, one of the interesting designs I've seen so far. As for Colab's openness to the idea of artists, their no constraint, no rules to follow and no target market to appease concept surely will capture everyone's attention to their products.

Available in 1000 pieces each numbered individually, click here to get Dean Cheuk's gold fingers.

Atypical, playful and unique it is, these sunglasses surely are synonymous to Margiela. Similar to L'incognito, this one simply is a lighter version of the unique sunglasses. The single lense design is, somehow, comparable to the aviators, disregarding the fact that it has no curve shape. Just for you to be able to find yourself wearing this one, get this at Colette and surely no one is going to take that away from you.
