Topman-Camel-Funnel-Neck-Trench
This beautiful coat is not just for summer, but it could be worn all throughout the year. I love the warm brown color and the front pockets that accentuate the lower part of the trench. But most of all I’m deeply in love with the funnel neck and the dark brown buttons. I guess this post is all about love, love, and love. Now available to purchase at Topman.

Musto Reefer Jacket

It will not just make you look clean and fresh, but a sophisticated gent on-the-go. Now available at Musto for £125.

JJ-Mercer-Chore-Coat
A chore coat is like an epitome of what workwear clothing is and brands these days seem to battle for a good revision of it. Just like this slimmer and flattering take from JJ Mercer. It has everything what the usual chore coat has yet it’s more simple and easy to put and pair on with any other anti-chill clothing.

Farah Vintage: The Art of the Hood

November 1, 2010 |

Farah Vintage presents its hooded outerwear selection for Autumn/Winter 2010. Arriving in three styles, we have here The Hopkins, The Churchill and The Hemmingway. The Hopkins is a duffel coat made with 100% wool Melton with real leather “football” buttons and storm flap. You can choose to either ‘Atlantic’ tartan or rich midnight blue color styles. The other two – The Churchill and The Hemmingway – are made both with technical elements for a more sympathetic approach to performance outerwear. Both styles are much simpler compared to The Hopkins but the two are made with water resistant features and comes with incredible linings.

Kris Van Assche Belted Waist Jacket

October 21, 2010 |

There’s an effortless sensibility to Kris Van Assche’s tailoring that makes a man look as if he had it prepared the whole night to choose what to wear for the next day. Another supporting piece would be this Belted Waist Jacket. Regardless of the heavyweight price, the jacket still goes with worth-appreciating details such as the contrast ribbed collar and the signature Van Assche silver zipper details. The belt remains to be functional as it can be donned for whatever silhouette you’d like to achieve. Made 100% in wool, the lining is cupro. Now available at Forward.

Known as purveyors of authentic design and construction, Spiewak has been producing quality outerwear for a century now. Part of the timeline was their provision of the uniforms for the U.S. Navy back in 1910. Now, Spiewak has designed a limited-edition re-creation of their original pea coat for Urban Outfitters. With development help from Jerry Spiewak, grandson of the founder who once wore the coat for the World War II, the garment retains its integrity with important features: “classic star anchor buttons, a reissue damask neck label, and curved double-welt pockets with embroidered three-section arrowheads.”

Spiewak Naval Pea Coat is available in Urban Outfitters stores and online for $198.

Lanvin Leather Trench Coat

July 25, 2010 |

This one's a perfect splurge or another reason to blink those eyes while purchasing. I love how Lanvin evolves to something Japanese aesthetic. The woolen sleeves and the leather combo looks extremely tough and, needless to say, edgy. Though we don't have to guess how much this would cost as it would be pricey if you're looking for plain functionality, still it's Lanvin and we're talking about the whole package here. Available at Browns.

When there's something else jumping off plain features, that's the time I confirm my admiration for a particular item. Take for example this navy three quarter trench coat in cotton gabardine by Philippe Alvergne. I love the fact that it is super detailed with two patch pockets and zipped pockets and has industrial approach seen on steel buttons and brass buckles. Bounce on studiohomme.

Shades of Greige Toggle Jacket

December 24, 2009 |

My first appreciation for Shades of Greige, this wool duffle coat has to be blame. Its complementing concept for the winter season may be cliché but I'm feeling a British military vibe on this coat (not Burberry this time). Highlighted with details including toggle closure, plaid etc., this coat looks even smarter if hood is removed which could emphasize the collar. Now available at SSense

Gloverall Duffel Coat

November 18, 2009 |

Here's a cool duffel coat from Oi Polloi coming in from their exclusive project with Gloverall. "Menswear's finest 'tinkerers' Oipolloi have worked on a exclusive project with the heavyweights of the Duffle Coat division Gloverall. They manufactured some of their classic duffels & pea-coats, in England, exclusively for Oipolloi. Owner Steve Sanderson states "We picked out our favourite pieces from the range, first up was the Monty, obviously, we didn't like the idea of changing the outside appearance of the coats so we kept all the detail changes on the inside, the colour of the taping, sleeve linings & the reverse side of the throat tabs""

Ma. Strum Double Pocket Frigate Coat

November 17, 2009 |

Designed by Mossimo Osti's son, this double pocket frigate coat from Ma. Strum looks fresh and clean in white and it can face all the elements as stated. "The excessive buttons found on the four pockets and the fastenings of the coat add to the unique style of this staple, along with the belt and plastic detail found on the shoulders." Accessing Massimo Osti's archive, this brand has a wonderful concept combining past and future.

Now available at Question Air.

Resistance Fall/Winter 2009 Jackets

November 3, 2009 |

Resistance Fall/Winter 2009 jackets have been released and I got to say it's an array of ironic pieces with rough and smooth looks. Down jackets came in biker design with red and black colors to choose from. Knitted garments seen on cardigan and pull overs are presented while coat, wool jacket and vest are seen with tartan details.

Oki-Ni

Here's an interesting coat from Julius, the Japanese brand which never fails to impress me. As always, I take notice on the unusual styling and this coat has an oversize drape collar, something that you don't see on any ordinary outfit or some winter essentials. The huge extended collar panel can eventually turn into a hood, a cowl or even a heavily-layered lapel. The coat also has a high-waist belt that "can be cinched up front to alter the shape of the coat's billowy folds, hung loose and untied to allow the garment to hang full length, or tied back, creating a heavy and sinister reinterpretation of the early 20th century dinner jacket with tails". Very versatile, obviously, this one piece coat can be a trickery to anyone which might cause them to think it's compose of two outfits.
