There's an upcoming viral epidemic over Youtube that is putting an edge over noted artists - and that includes KESHA! Well, if you came across with the user PhatGayKid aka Jonnie, then you have aimed the right person. Seriously, this one's totally hilarious and pure entertainment... which kind of moistening up the dry search over good videos all over the net. And notice his oily upper lip (the total rotation of Emma Roberts' SULA abbreviation), it gives you the ironic feel while watching his damn good videos.

Here's a fraction of the fun.

(The oily thing isn't seen on the video.)

What's Good on Sunday? Koudlam & Acid Washed

May 16, 2010 |

Thanks to the Balenciaga and Cavalli Madness along with some random thoughts, I'll be now enjoying two new songs on my playlist. Fashion isn't all about the trends, style developments or beautification but it gives a big damn help to those who are experience music drought. Just like me. Enjoy!

Koudlam - See You All (Heard at Balenciaga F/W 2010 Womenswear Show)

Acid Washed - General Motors, Detroit, America (Black Strobe Remix) (Heard at Roberto Cavalli F/W 2010 Womenswear Show)

What's Good on Sunday? My Green Leader

May 9, 2010 |

On Monday (May 10, 2010), Philippines will be voting for a successor to the oh-so-short incumbent president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. You see, I have been a prisoner to this country for the past few years and for the record, I had no option with those times to exercise my right of suffrage since I was still underage. But now, I'm a full pledge Filipino citizen with the power to choose who to rule my country.

Well, this year's candidates are quite interrelated with colors and charisma. Just like this, if you're into yellow, then you go for the son of the iconic mother of our democracy, but if you're into orange, then you go for the richest senator in the Philippines. In today's election period, they also included the once ousted president of our country. (When will they move on!?)

We have a lot of options to choose from but one of them really caught my attention, and he is my green patriot - Gilberto Teodoro. He may not have the rags to riches story which the other presidentiable is telling us, nor he may not have the iconic parents, but with him, I can sense that he can lead the country to a better position with his sincere and honest purposes. I won't dig in with his specific platforms but definitely my vote goes to him and he will definitely be a good leader to my home country.

Also, I'm hoping for that f*cking automated procedure to please not screw up on Monday... I know it's a first but please be successful for our sake. And oh, I almost forgot this, Mr. Teodoro has the most beautiful wife out there, and she could be lined up with Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy once Teodoro wins.

It's good to know that Philippines keep on producing world class quality performers. Thanks to the "Got Talent" franchise, it made it even more easy to spot the potential idols. Last night, I was able to see the performance of this 16 year old guy from Batangas. His personal life was an enhancer but the performance would top them all. On the video above, the judges stood up in an effort to applaud Jovit Baldovino. He deserved it and I hope he would be skyrocketed to international stardom someday.

For the love of bracelets, I do consider it now as a necessity ever since I started compiling different style of that particular accessory on my right wrist. Name everything, from beads to multicolored laces, that goes to show that I do fancy any variations and colors as well. Early last week, I caught up with two bracelets that I believe caused another severe drooling over my inner demands.

First comes from Robert Geller. Very masculine, sophisticated and really industrial. It kind of reminded me of the wood woven bracelets that you can purchase on souvenir shops. This time it's modernized and covered with real luxury.

Another is from Kiel James Patrick. I feel a masculine Bohemia vibe over these accessories. The bracelets are composed with high quality hand braided cotton cords. The price? Even more lovely.

Just hate the fact that Robert Geller's would cost me big bucks. I don't think it's practical but sometimes we get to blinded by our own desires... which rips our pockets. Can somebody throw in some quick cash?

What's Good on Sunday? Coachella Music Festival

April 18, 2010 |

Honestly, my mind's up with two things, my practicum and... Coachella! Well I first heard this a year ago and didn't mind at all, but when I saw the artists and knew how everything works, I was kind of punched hardly and didn't know what to do. Blame it on the three main tents and continuous favorable artists playing. As 2010 goes up yet with another event for Coachella, I couldn't imagine myself on that place with my iPod buddies playing, LIVE.

Coachella is a critically acclaimed American music festival showcasing many genres of music - alternative rock, hip hop, electronic, to name a few. The annual gathering held at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio California, in the Inland Empire's Coachella Valley, is organized by Goldenvoice. With, what I said, continuous music, the event has several stages/tents set-up to stage artists/bands. The main stages are: Coachella Stage, Outdoor Theatre, Gobi Tent, Mojave Tent, and the Sahara Tent.

As I was hopelessly expecting something similar to Coachella music fest that would be held here in my place, I couldn't help myself but drool over the "tent" lifestyle, the desert mountains, the settling sun, and the get-up-with-your-light-clothes outfit. Okay, I would stop committing suicide over this music fest but DEFINITELY make the event my number 1 priority once I get myself out of College with a degree and save some big bucks.

Well, when you're far from coolness and rely everything on the internet, why not make the most out of it and absorb tips over the official Coachella forum regarding what's vital for you to survive while enjoying to death and not dehydrating nor killing yourself.

C DUB YA'S TIPS

1. Sun block

2. water and then more water

3. comfy shoes

4. Choose the right clothing light clothing during the day - long sleeves at night (its a desert)

5. Arrive in a good mood this is going to be a good weekend for you.

6. book hotel or camping spot early

7. Shower (please for the love of god) your neighbors in the crowd will thank you.

8. Eat and take a break, sit down

9. if you don't mind to do so, save the large amounts of alcohol till afterwards, because the sun will kill/drain you.

10. Buy the t shirts/merch you want early (they sell out at night and the lines are very long) Maybe you should get a locker rental?

11. Expect to wait in the morning at the entrance gate in long slow moving lines. Either arrive way early or relax and take your time.

12. Don't be a scarface and try to smuggle crazy ass drugs in there, why lax, they do escort people out from time to time, that would be a bummer of a weekend for you.

13. Don't "push your way" up front. This is kinda important. If there is an artist you want to see, get to that stage while the artist before is still on and just wait it out, you just may end up see something else you like too. In other words, don't be the asshole.

14. Have a physical meeting spot with your party, because your cell phone reception is spotty at best.

15. Move around to the different stage see as much as possible

16. Know that you WILL miss some acts you wanna see.

17. Expect LOTS of traffic to and from festival grounds, patience.

18. Buy your 3 day pass as early as you can. Coachella has sold out in the past, but not every year. PF usually gives a warning of sorts somewhere in the message board, if things are getting close.

19. Don't lose your digital camera, you can take a photo of your contact information and have it on the camera... it could be you holding up a sign with your phone number, email, whatever. (thanks PF). Or get creative like this guy

20. Condoms

21. Stay clear of the beer gardens, they are well away from the stages and over-priced, and boring, you will be missing out on a ton of musical fun.

22. Sleep (with in and outs for 2010, you could even take a nap if you need to, cool)

23. Print out a set times schedule - keep it in your pocket (they will have schedules there, but don't spend forever looking for one)

24. Plan any of your tent signings early, and prepare to wait for your favorite, but don't go nuts at the signing tent, you'll miss lots of music. Artists and the signing tent run way late and there are always cancelations throughout the day.

25. Bring cash

Bonus tips.

26. Don't wear a backpack. Esp in the crowds near any stage. Unless you are working, you should leave it at the hotel, tent, or even a locker. The person behind you will be glad you don't bump them every time you decide to dance a little. Plus, it's one more security check you'll have to do.

27. Hats, might be a good idea for sun protection, but don't wear something obnoxiously big.

28. NEVER text "Where are you?" or any text that requires a response because by the time you get one, your friend won't be where they said they'd be. Also, Text affirmative statements such as "Meet at Sahara Tent at 6:30pm" or "Meet in beer garden by main stage at 8pm". Finally, Time stamp your texts because ambiguous times like "Meet me in 20 minutes" doesn't mean a damn thing. (thanks Weezy F)

29. Give yourself enough time to go from one side of the Polo Grounds to the other. It's a bigger area than you think. (esp. going from the VIP or Main Stage area to the Sahara tent)

30. Sunglasses are also always a good idea.

What's Good on Sunday? Cut Copy

April 11, 2010 |

Yesterday, boredom didn't fail me. I was able to discover a great band and it didn't cost me anything. Just I was saying, the guys are another import of Australia. Playing synthpop music, great tunes captured my eardrums and everything follows. The name, Cut Copy. The guys aren't the costumy type as related to their music. Some would dress up like androids with visual shit accessories to prove they're the cool dudes but their minimalism attached to their genre is something that I find interesting.

Ok, WGS feature of the blog is the only thing that shows the personal side of mine. And yeah, I'm going to emphasize more on my personal stuff every Sunday. Something that would bring out my concerned thoughts and put to shame or fame (feeler!) those bizarre stuff. Anyway, out of searching coolness this boring Easter Sunday of mine, I kind of came across with this really amusing San Fransiscan cat fight. Well it's not scripted, it's totally real! Here's a quote from the user:

"Oct 7, 2009 10am, Chinatown San Francisco. This fight occurred on the Muni Stockton route (the 9 i think) just before the stockton tunnel. As you can see, a simple argument about seat-hogging quickly turned into a full blown brawl. It's pretty clear who threw the first punch, you can see the bus' serial number, and the exact time in the video. By the way, this is the same bus where I was attacked 3 weeks ago, so I thought documenting the event was the most important thing I could do. This fight was NOT reported by the driver OR by the MUNI person who happened to be at the final stop (Stockton and Sutter). I'll be walking to work for a while."

Pretty sure it started shallowly and ended up with serious fun. haha! Anyway, Happy Easter Sunday!

I thought a good rap for Sunday would do. Here's a cool song from Professor Green. Dig in!!!

What's Good on Sunday? MrPander's Portfolio

February 28, 2010 |

Advertising really catches my eardrums, for several reasons I think it magnetizes my totality and wanna dig in to the whole concept of it. Seriously, promoting is just the shallow image but everyone must consider the fact that commercializing a certain product requires great idea and artistry. Yesterday, I caught up some great works of my new found friend Felix Sander from Germany. Running his own blog MrPander.com, I came across with some really nice posts over the site. But after being referred to his portfolio, I immediately fell in love on his Fender guitar project for school.

Putting in quotations of Jimmy Hendrix and Rolling Stones' Keith Richards stating their love and dedication over the instrument, the ad is well interpreted and executed with NY vibe of mild flashy lights and Jimmy Hendrix's imposition over his own silhouette. See more works here.

Sorry Ty if I had to let you wait for Sunday since CMRTYZ is my special feature! Ok, I have been a big fan of the shredded style since I first saw it on a particular online shop. But seriously, the method and process of achieving this is really difficult and that alone should be acknowledged. And yeah, I know for a fact that the shirts are big hit (it sold out like hotcakes ya'll) and AnOther even reblogged it to their reader section. Thanks to... ehem ehem.

Jumping from intros to some worthy infos, CMRTYZ is up with new offerings, and here's something you might be digging in. The name, "Death Cowl" (pictures below). Shredded as it is, the styling is similar to the shirts we've came across before. Cowls are usually seen on religious orders but the brand gave an edgier approach with their signature shredders. Coming in black color, expect this beauty at retailers soon! Also, CMRTYZ is supporting Dead Ghost band. Promoting their records, they are doing limited run of 250 with hand silkscreen album art and limited run of 50 with hand silkscreen deluxe packaging which includes the hand silkscreen band tee shirt, the vinyl record and other special goodies.

And for that, here's a leak of Dead Ghost's "What to Do":

Streetwear with avant-garde appeal is quite unusual for a practical jacket, but that's what we're looking nowadays! Cheap and edgy. Large plaid woven pattern in semi abstract look goes all over the piece, and that's something you'll notice first for sure. "Two vertical zip pockets on snap button-secured shoulder flap panels, sets of side snap button and zip pockets, a quilted lining with two inside pockets, and ribbing at the hem. Cotton/poly blend." Available at Need Supply Co.

What's good on Sunday? Bloodbath's Spring/Summer 2010 lookbook. Dope and fresh, the collection is dubbed "Eternal Gatekeepers" focusing on woven shirts and tees. The graphics revolve around the theme eternity while long and short sleeve button ups are offered in two colorways. Dropping this late February, check out Bloodbath for more info.

What's Good on Sunday? To-orist Spring/Summer 2010

January 24, 2010 |

I was about to post this when I received the info, but I needed to wait for Sunday since this would be a worthy feature for WGS. UK brand To-orist releases their Spring/Summer 2010 offerings with some interesting pieces. Digging in more with the brand name first, you'll definitely find these definitions entertaining. TO-ORIST (pronounced 'tourist') n. 1. A neurotic fixated on exploring unchartered territory whether physically or mentally with no limitation. 2. An object of situation that appears Jarring. 3. SHEER ABNORMALITY

Clearly, I was impressed with the Jumangi meets James Dean bomber jackets. Tapestry featuring animals and floral details coming in both with oriental lining made it even more interesting. Also, the humble cotton shirt, which I didn’t expect will come, had genius inclusion of paisley and zip details on the shoulders. Advancing with contrasting ideas, the scientific inspiration were too much of a science when view afar on some shirts, but when zoomed in, both were actually sailing on the same direction after seeing leopard prints on the graphics of the rocket space ship and binocular t-shirts. Creative, genius and beautiful. Now available at Oki-Ni.

Wallpaper*'s latest installment of "City Short" features Richard Christiansen of Chandelier Creative documenting his perfect day and favorite spots in NYC.

"Despite its difficult entry into the 21st century, the city that never sleeps has regrouped, found its rhythm and hit back with a rather different design agenda. Once driven by excess, New York has entered an era of austerity, yet thanks to a greater appreciation of quality over quantity, the city has never felt more compelling. Here Richard Christian of Chandelier Creative describes his perfect day in the city."

What's good on Sunday? A leak of Christian Rich's Famous Girl remixed by Bjorn from the infamous indie group Peter, Bjorn and John. Got to say this version's relaxing and really chill.

Download the song here.

Right at this very moment, TheSouthSider will start featuring some good stuffs found over the internet (definitely will include online stores and even blogs) every Sunday of your life. From delectable to really bizarre selections, expect some random things that will pop out the windows of your screen and entertain your awful needs, if you're high though.

And to make this the first Sunday of the WGS feature, let me show you this really cool Alexander McQueen Gladiator Sandals. Coming in with patented blue color and really gladiatoric (invented word) design, the silhouette is somehow the same with the ones you see on female versions. There are skull designs on the sole, which will be badly covered, and lace up detail supporting the rib-like structure. Now available at Browns.
